Blandford's Fox

Blandford's fox (Vulpes cana ) was confirmed in the area only in 1995 during the survey mentioned above that led to rediscovery of the Arabian tahr in the UAE. It is smaller than the Arabian fox, with a large bushy tail, very big ears and black facial markings. Its overall greyish colour blends in superbly with its natural habitat. This fox is only found in the mountains and is absent from the open desert, thus avoiding competition with the red fox. It feeds on small mammals, birds, insects and during the season also thrives on fruits such as dates and zidr apples.
