Cheesman's gerbil

Cheesman's gerbil (Gerbillus cheesmani ) is also widespread in the Emirates and has many similarities with the lesser jerboa. Although it is smaller than the latter and its hind legs are not as elongated, it can still take considerable leaps. In the Emirates the jerboa seems to favour the deserts towards the gravel plains, whereas Cheesman's gerbil is found all over the country. It is also sandy-beige in colour, with large black eyes, a white belly and a tail that seems more in proportion, in comparison with its body, than that of the jerboa.
