BELONIDAE Needlefish, garfish
 Elongate, silvery body, dorsally bluish-green, either compressed or cylindrical. Large eyes, extended beak-like mouth, needle-sharp teeth. Gill rakers absent. Larger specimens offshore around structures in strong tidal flows. Caught by gillnets commercially. Bones and parts of the meat are green.
