 Any journey by road to the UAE's East Coast takes you through the hills to the junction at Masafi from where there is a choice to go north to Dibba or south to Fujairah. Using this geography to their maximum advantage, traders have set up stalls either side of the road just to the west of Masafi in a natural amphitheatre in the hills.
 From modest beginnings, only some ten or so years ago, the number of stalls and variety of produce on offer has grown substantially. Everything from fruit and vegetables to houseplants, toys, pottery items, carpets and trinkets can be found. Haggling is to be expected.
